artist statement…..

Sally is interested in exploring our experience of and relationship to the ever changing, unravelling present.  How the spaces we inhabit, present an ever shifting pattern of colour, form and space. With a minimal approach, the work explores our awareness of time and place through an engagement with light and colour.

Working in her studio / glass house, the work is often directly activated by sunlight, transcending materiality and traversing the architectural space, engaging with and exploring the slow, almost imperceptible, cycle of time.

Sitting somewhere between painting and sculpture, Sally often uses found and discarded materials, to create subtle shifting encounters between colour, space and form. Whether suspended in the space or mounted on the wall, light gives the work a three dimensionality that attempts to make manifest our experience of colour, form and space.

In the age of the image, in a time when we are constantly moving, viewing and experiencing our environment multiple ways simultaneously our experience of time and space changes. The work is interested in essentialising and recognising fleeting moments of synchronicity, memory and joy.
